研究室では、突如として発生し、壊滅的な被害をもたらす地震力のような荷重が発生するとき、コンクリート(RC)系構造物に対して、どのように抵抗させて安全性を確保していくかを研究し、RC構造物の構造性能評価、具体的には復元力特性の構築，靭性能評価・損傷評価，性能評価を行っています。またこのためには、新構造材料・新構造技術によるRC系構造物の高性能化の実現も必要とされ、構造実験・数値解析といった手法を用い研究を行ってます。
